Sacramento, CA - The California Storm announced today the co-coaches for the 2024 season, Sissi and David "Robbo" Robertson. They will share coaching duties for the organization's WPSL and USL W League teams.

"For players, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to play for a World Cup Legend, Sissi, and David Robertson who is one of the most respected coaches in the game," said executive director Jamie Levoy. "At the Storm, we pride ourselves in providing the absolute best resources for our athletes and this aligns perfectly. Both of them are incredibly knowledgeable about the game, are extremely positive to work with, and will take this program to another level."

Sissi has been a part of the club in different capacities since 2004. Recognized by FIFA as one of the best to ever play the game, she has been a player for the Storm, an assistant coach, and currently, she serves on the club's Board of Directors. She will maintain her position on the Board while stepping into the role of coach.

"It's an honor and privilege to take this new role for an organization that has done so much for women including myself," said Sissi. "To do it with someone that I can learn from as well [Robbo] is definitely a dream come true."

"She is the heart of this organization and so it is extremely fitting that she be in this role," said Levoy. "It's a dream come true to have her passing her knowledge of the game to our athletes."

David "Robbo" Robertson became involved with the Storm several years ago when the Storm made the move to the Davis Legacy Complex. Robbo currently serves as the Executive Director of Davis Legacy Soccer Club and as Technical Programs Manager of NorCal Premier. Upon moving to the Complex, Robbo was brought on to the coaching staff and played a pivotal role in club success in 2023 when the club expanded to the USL W League.

"I am honored and excited to work more closely with such a terrific group of players and the many people behind the scenes who work tirelessly in making the Storm so successful on and off the field," said Robbo. "I am humbled to coach along Sissi, who has achieved everything possible as a player and now gives so much back to the next generation."

"He's an incredibly balanced coach, players love playing for him and they also love learning from him," said Levoy. "He is an incredible tactician and a valuable asset to the Storm organization."

"Robbo is one of my mentors," said longtime Storm player and co-captain Janae Gonzalez. "He embodies relentless commitment towards the things and people he is passionate about. With a wealth of experience in the sport itself, combined with his genuine approach to player development, Robbo’s expertise and dedication will only continue to grow and foster the standards at Storm. Fortunate is an understatement, I can’t wait to work with him this season."

"I can enthusiastically express my excitement for Sissi entering her new role as co-head coach for California Storm," said the organization's other longtime co-captain and player, Liz Hutchison. "From playing alongside her on the pitch and working with her in training sessions, she inspires and leads with everything she does. She offers not only the passion that comes from her historic perspective as a player on the world stage, but also an intuitive and charismatic approach to coaching at all age levels. I cannot wait to see what her magic brings to the program this season."

Executive Director Jamie Levoy is preparing the Storm for another successful season in the USL W League and WPSL. Season tickets for the 2024 season will go on sale Tuesday, December 12 at 10:00AM.
