Storm hosts a local rival and a tough Bay Area opponent this weekend
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento’s premier women’s soccer team, California Storm, will host two games this weekend during the third week of play of the Pacific-North region of the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL).
California Storm will kick off the weekend when they take on Sacramento rival Primero de Mayo on Friday, June 5. Storm enters the match with a confidence-boosting win under their belt, after defeating the West Coast WildKatz 5-1 last Saturday. Primero de Mayo have yet to taste victory this season, racking up three losses out of three games. Storm needs a win on Friday in order to be in a better position when they face North Bay Wave FC.
Storm will host the 2014 Pacific-North runner-up, North Bay Wave FC on Saturday in a what is sure to be a tough battle for the Sacramento women. North Bay has started out the season on the right foot, defeating the West Coast Wildkatz and Primero de Mayo in their first two games. Last season, North Bay handed Storm their only defeat of the season, and will hope to again upset the hosts. North Bay will host the San Francisco Nighthawks on Friday night before making the trip to Sacramento on Saturday.
California Storm currently sits in fourth place on the Pacific-North standings, while North Bay Wave and Primero de Mayo sit second and fifth, respectively.
