Jerry Zanelli WPSL Founder and Head Coach of the California Storm is the ultimate pioneer of women's soccer. His relentless effort to fight for women has impacted the lives of so many players and coaches. Players including Sissi, Tafa, Brandi Chastain, Mia Hamm, Michelle Akers, Julie Foudy, Kristine Lilly, Leslie Osborn (just to name a few) give Jerry credit for playing pivotal roles in their careers and lives. Without Jerry Zanelli, there would be no WPSL and no professional league for women. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for all of your efforts.
After over 30 years of coaching the California Storm, at 80 years old, Jerry is now having health issues. He has made the decision to pass the torch of Head Coach to Jamie Levoy. "I have been grooming Jamie for the past 3 years to step into the role of head coach. She is extremely capable of running the Storm and building a championship team. I have no doubt that she will make me proud. Please support Jamie in her efforts," Jerry states. Jamie Levoy has been with the California Storm for 10 years working in various roles including game day operations,coaching and recruiting. "I am so honored that Jerry is giving me this opportunity. He has been a great mentor and friend to me since I first met him. What he has done for women's soccer is astounding. I am beyond grateful for my time with Jerry and will take the knowledge he has given me and implement it into the Storm.
